In a heartwarming act of generosity, Leonoil Company, one of Sierra Leone’s leading oil and gas marketing firms, donated a significant quantity of food items to Masjids in local communities within its operational areas in Kissy, East End Freetown, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The beneficiary communities included Quarry, Texaco Lorry Park, Low-Cost Housing, Grassfield, and the Kissy Police Division Barracks.
The donated food items, which included bags of rice and sugar, were warmly received by Masjid leaders and community members. The gesture aimed to support families in need during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Leonoil’s Head of Human Resources and Administration, Madam Miniratu Fofanah, emphasized that the donation was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, which takes place annually during Ramadan.
She disclosed that Leonoil donated over 100 bags of rice and sugar to the respective Masjids, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups in its operational communities.
“Our visit to community Masjids is not unusual because Leonoil Company always ensures it meets the immediate needs of the communities where we operate,” Madam Fofanah stated.
Leonoil’s Operations Manager, Mr. Reginald Sawyer, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to social responsibility and improving the lives of those within its operational areas.
“The annual Ramadan donations have become a tradition at Leonoil. While we may not be able to reach everyone directly, our support to community Masjids ensures that many families benefit,” Mr. Sawyer explained.
He also conveyed a goodwill message from Leonoil’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Cole, encouraging communities to continue fostering peace and security in the interest of the company and the nation at large.
The Chief Imam of Suad Masjid in the Quarry Community, Sheikh Ahmad Fuad Kamara, along with the Chief Imams of Masjid Arafah, Masjid Thakuwa Allah, Masjid Rahim, Masjid Abubakarr Siddique, and Masjid Thaoheed, expressed deep gratitude for Leonoil’s continued support. They emphasized how such donations bring relief to struggling Muslim families, particularly during challenging times.
“This year’s donation is not surprising because Leonoil has consistently supported our Masjids during past Ramadans,” remarked Sheikh Kamara.
The Chief Imams also offered prayers for Leonoil’s continued growth and pledged to keep the company in their prayers.
Councillors Bockarie Marah and Akiratu Caulker, representing Texaco, Grassfield, Low-Cost Housing, and Kissy Police Division Barracks, commended Leonoil for its unwavering commitment to the community.
“Although several companies operate in our communities, only Leonoil has consistently provided essential food supplies to Masjids during Ramadan,” they noted.
The donation ceremony concluded with expressions of appreciation from both religious and community leaders, highlighting Leonoil’s impactful role in promoting social welfare through its CSR initiatives.
