576 palm oil youth contracts in the Eastern Region have embarked on exchange and experience learning and sharing field visits for farmers in Kenema, Kono, and Kailahun districts, taking five days in each district.

The Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (AVDP), with support from IFAD through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is supporting the process.
AVDP’s Eastern Region agronomist, Michael Koroma, emphasized that the exchange and experience learning and sharing field visit aimed to enhance farm management and post-harvest practices. Similar training and visits are also under way for youth contractors from Moyamba, Bo, Bonthe, and Pujehun districts in the Southern region.

Equipped with updated technical skills, the trained youth contractors are expected to transfer their knowledge to other farmers in their communities, ensuring sustainable growth.
