Alpha Amadu Jalloh, a distinguished freelance writer, human rights advocate, and author of the groundbreaking book Monopoly of Happiness: Unveiling Sierra Leone’s Social Imbalance, has been nominated for the prestigious African Renaissance Leadership Award. The award will be presented during the African Media Conference organized by Scholar Media Africa, taking place from April 23rd to 25th, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.

A native of Sierra Leone, Alpha Amadu Jalloh has been a tireless advocate for the rights and empowerment of youth and children across the African continent. With over three decades of experience in youth work, peacebuilding, and conflict management, he has earned a reputation as a passionate and fearless voice for the marginalized. His commitment to nurturing future leaders and fostering innovation among African youth has left an indelible mark on countless lives.

At the upcoming conference, Mr. Jalloh will present a paper on the theme “Rewriting the African Narratives: Empowering Youth through Innovation.” His contribution promises to be a powerful call to action, urging leaders and institutions to rethink the stories told about Africa and invest in the potential of its youth. His presentation is expected to spotlight the resilience and creativity of young Africans while challenging outdated narratives that have long undermined the continent’s progress.

Representing Sierra Leone on such a prominent international platform is both an honor and a responsibility. Mr. Jalloh will not only be advocating for youth empowerment, but also showcasing Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage, values, and aspirations. His presence at the conference is a significant step toward enhancing the image of Sierra Leone and reinforcing the country’s place in the African renaissance movement.

In addition to his advocacy work, Alpha Amadu Jalloh is known for his insightful writings, many of which are aimed at educating and awakening the conscience of African societies. His book Monopoly of Happiness is a bold critique of social injustice and inequality in Sierra Leone, offering solutions rooted in unity, empathy, and inclusive development.

Mr. Jalloh’s nomination for the African Renaissance Leadership Award is a recognition of his lifelong dedication to justice, equality, and the empowerment of Africa’s next generation. His journey is a testament to what is possible when one uses their voice and pen for the betterment of others.
