London, 27th April 2025 — The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) UK & Ireland Region marked a historic moment as Jennifer Mamie Yatta Tengbeh was elected Regional Women’s Leader, reaffirming the party’s steadfast commitment to promoting women’s leadership and advancing inclusive political participation.

Born in Yengema, Kono District, to proud parents from Luawa Chiefdom in Kailahun District, Jennifer embodies the enduring spirit and aspirations of her heritage. Her journey from her early education at Yengema Secondary School (YSS) Kono and St. Andrews Secondary School (UCC) in Bo to her pursuit of higher learning abroad reflects a life dedicated to excellence and service.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health and social and nursing, respectively. Her distinguished academic and professional achievements in healthcare have earned her a respected reputation within her community and beyond. They also serve as a powerful testament to her commitment to uplifting and empowering the next generation, particularly young women.

As a long-standing, dedicated member of the SLPP UK & Ireland Region, Jennifer is deeply aligned with the party’s vision of unity, progress, and inclusion. Her leadership agenda prioritizes the strengthening of women’s representation and the amplification of women’s voices across all levels of party engagement.

She passionately believes that the empowerment of women is not only a necessity for the advancement of the party but is integral to the sustainable development of the wider community.

In assuming this important role, Jennifer extends a hand of friendship and collaboration to all members of the SLPP UK&I Region, including her fellow candidates. She has called for unity, reconciliation, and a renewed collective spirit as the party moves forward. Her leadership promises to usher in a new era where diversity, dialogue, and inclusivity will be the cornerstones of political mobilization and growth.

Her election is seen by many as a beacon of hope for women in politics both at home and in the diaspora. Through her tenure, it is anticipated that more women will be encouraged to break barriers, contribute meaningfully to political discourse, and pursue leadership roles within the party and the nation.

In her victory remarks, Jennifer humbly acknowledged the hand of Almighty God in her journey, giving thanks for His continued guidance and strength. She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to serve with transparency, dedication, and passion.

Jennifer Mamie Yatta Tengbeh’s election transcends personal triumph; it symbolizes a collective movement toward greater inclusion, unity, and empowerment within the SLPP. As she takes the mantle of leadership, the entire SLPP UK & Ireland Region looks forward with optimism to a future built on collaboration, strength, and renewed purpose.

Long live the SLPP. Long live Sierra Leone.
