At the official commissioning of the newly constructed and furnished 12-classroom block with teachers’ office at Jeremiah School, Rogbereh Junction, Maforki Chiefdom in the Port Loko district on Saturday, 20th September, 2025, key stakeholders of the district expressed profound thanks and sincere appreciation to the Management of CTC Mining (SL) Limited for fully implementing their Community Development Action Plan (CDAP).

In his welcome address, the host Paramount Chief of Maforki Chiefdom, PC Bai Forki Fianka II, noted that, in the entire Port Loko district, CTC Mining Company (SL) Limited is the most compliant company in the implementation of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and CDAP (Community Development Action Plan).
PC Bai Forki Fianka II disclosed that CTC Mining is the only company that does not impose development projects on the community. “We tell them what we want, and they implement projects that are beneficial to the community and people of Maforki Chiefdom,” PC Bai Fianka II said.

He added that the footprints of CTS’s development agenda are visible in the chiefdom. He praised the company for working very closely with the local and ceremonial chiefs in the chiefdom.
PC Bai Fianka II thanked the management of CTC for transforming the Jeremiah School into a modern school building with assorted school furniture.
The APC MP for the area, Hon. Abdul Latif Sesay, thanked the management of CTC for employing local indigenes of Port Loko and for rehabilitating the Jeremiah School. He praised the company for fulfilling their promise of implementing the local content policy by providing jobs and business opportunities for the indigenes of Maforki Chiefdom and the Port Loko district.

The presidential spokesman, politician, and veteran spokesman, Dr Alpha Kanu, praised CTC for supporting President Bio’s flagship project of Free Quality School Education and human capital development. Dr Alpha Kanu noted that quality education is the key to a successful life. He said investment in education is good for the development of any nation.
He thanked the management of CTC especially the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Hisham Makie, for his forthright leadership and his vision for the development of Maforki Chiefdom and Port Loko district.
The Resident Minister-Northwest, Ambassador Dr. Umaru Bond Wurie, thanked the Management of CTC for fulfilling a promise made to the people of Maforki Chiefdom. He described CTC as a reliable, dependable and law-abiding company that is committed to the development of the country.
He praised CTC for the construction of Jeremiah School and encouraged the pupils to ensure that, they make good use of the facilities within the school campus.

Minister Bond Wurie encouraged parents to send their children, especially the girls, to school. He said President Julius Maada Bio is fully committed to the Free Quality School Education.
In his keynote and official commissioning speech, the CEO of CTC Mining (SL) Limited, Hisham Mackie, said he was extremely delighted for a dream come true. He said the new school building was dedicated to the children and people of Maforki Chiefdom.
Mr. Mackie assured that, CTC was in the Chiefdom and the Port Loko district to stay. He promised to do everything within his reach to help in the development of the Chiefdom.
He promised to establish a scholarship scheme to assist girls that offer Science subjects in school. He described his company’s relationship with the people of Maforki as ironclad.
Mr. Hisham Mackie noted that, “Education is the backbone of sustainable development. By investing in schools and learning materials, we are investing in the future leaders of Maforki Chiefdom and Sierra Leone as a whole”.
Mr. Mackie thanked His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, on behalf of the Management and Staff of CTC, for his personal support and vision in adopting human capital development as his flagship project.
The CTC CEO praised Mr Julius Mattai, the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, for his leadership and steadfast support for the development of the mining sector in Sierra Leone.
The distribution of learning materials to the pupils of Jeremiah School formed the highpoint of the ceremony.
Representatives from EPA, NMA, Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School praised CTC for the construction and furnishing of the Jeremiah School.
The Principal of Jeremiah Secondary School, Mr. Gibrilla Sidikie Kamara, thanked the Management of CTC for the construction and furnishing of the school. He promised to maintain discipline in the school, without fear or favor.
Mr. Hisham Mackie cut the ribbon and formally commissioned and handed over the school to the Paramount Chief through the Resident Minister, Northwest Region, Ambassador Umaru Bond Wurie.
Earlier on, Dr. David Koroma delivered the opening statement on behalf of CTC Mining (SL) Limited.
