A major turnaround was achieved on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Tonkolili District as the Resident Minister of the North-east region, Hon. Ibrahim Jalloh, successfully resolved a long-standing land dispute between Magbondo and Roborssor villages in Kholifa Mabang Chiefdom.
The dispute, which had threatened the area’s security for three decades, saw several recent skirmishes and a court case at Mile 91 town, where the Roborssor side had summoned ten Magbondo residents to the Magistrate Court.
Minister Jalloh led a high-powered delegation to the community, where he joined the Paramount Chief, PC Bai Kurr Kuhrahray II, and local leaders in a reconciliation meeting after successfully withdrawing the matter from the Magistrate Court.
Addressing the community, Minister Jalloh emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence in the region, stating, “It’s only when you all work in unity and cooperation that you will be able to move your communities forward.”
During the reconciliation meeting, the Resident Minister listened to the Paramount Chief, community stakeholders, and the two parties battling for the land until a resolution was reached that the disputed land belongs to Roborssor.
He called on Magbondo to accept the verdict and warned Roborssor not to prevent the other side from accessing the land.
The Paramount Chief, PC Bai Kurr Kuhrahray II, welcomed the Minister and assured him of the community’s readiness to ensure both sides maintained everlasting peace.
CSP Ishmael Koroma, the Local Unit Commander of the Mile 91 Police Division, called on residents to embrace the message of peace brought to them by the Minister.
As head of security in the area, CSP Koroma stressed the need for residents to report land matters to local authorities and respect their leaders at the local level.
Alfred Marshall Bangura from the Magbondo side thanked the minister and his delegation for their intervention in bringing peace and assured him of their commitment to maintaining the peace.
He called on his people to accept the verdict. On behalf of Roborssor village, Ahmed Alaska Bangura expressed happiness over what he called a historic day in the community. Both sides pledged their unwavering commitment to the maintenance of peace in the communities.
