The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, has met with a group of foreign investors led by Stephen Barnes, founder of the GO-FOR-GOLD Programme, at his office in Freetown.
The delegation, which included representatives from the United States, Germany, and India, visited Sierra Leone to explore business opportunities. They praised the country’s welcoming people and open-door policy toward investors.
Mr Barnes said the visit aimed to promote direct foreign investment and support Sierra Leone’s development goals. He asked the Speaker to help with the approval of investment agreements in Parliament and said their plans match President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of attracting sustainable investment.
Speaker Thomas thanked the investors for their interest and assured them that Parliament is committed to making Sierra Leone business-friendly. He said the current Parliament is focused on passing laws that protect investors, create jobs, and grow the economy.
He added that Parliament will continue to support initiatives that help diversify the economy and provide opportunities for young people.
The visit reflects growing international confidence in Sierra Leone’s economy, which offers a young workforce, a good location for trade, and attractive conditions for investors.
