The Resident Minister of the North-east region, Hon. Ibrahim Jalloh, has taken a significant step in the fight against substance abuse by launching the “Voices Against Kush” campaign.
This initiative aims to complement the government’s efforts in addressing the growing concern of kush drug abuse, particularly among youths.
The campaign, established on November 2, 2025, in Makeni City, will focus on sensitising communities, identifying victims, and reporting those involved in the drug trade to law enforcement agencies.
Meeting with team members at his residence, the Hon. Jalloh emphasised the importance of collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to identify hotspots in order tackle the issue effectively.
Key Objectives of the Campaign:
– Sensitises communities the dangers of kush and substance abuse.
– Identify victims and provide support
– Report those involved in the drug trade to law enforcement agencies

Hon. Jalloh highlighted President Julius Maada Bio’s concern about the growing devastation caused by drugs, particularly kush, in communities.
He said that the President treated the kush issue with the seriousness it deserves.
The Resident Minister, Hon. Jalloh, has pledged to ensure that kush and all substances become a thing of the past in the North-east region.
The team discussed potential challenges and urged the minister to address them. Hon. Jalloh assured the team that he would meet with stakeholders at local and national levels to kick-start the initiative soon.
This campaign demonstrates the government’s commitment to tackling substance abuse and provides hope for a safer and healthier community in the North-east region.
