In a bold move to combat drug abuse and trafficking, a joint team of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) raided a notorious ghetto in the Campbell Street area of Makeni on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Led by DSP Yusuf Barrie, Regional Operations Officer, the joint operation team destroyed makeshift structures used for the sale and consumption of harmful drugs. The raid was part of the government’s efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the country.
During the operation, the team rescued several drug victims who were suffering from the effects of taking these substances.
The victims were taken to a rehabilitation centre along the Makeni-Kabala Highway for further assistance.
The community has welcomed the initiative, with residents expressing gratitude to the SLP and RSLAF for their efforts. They have promised to provide timely and reliable information to aid in the arrest of drug dealers.
This joint operation is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to fighting drug abuse and trafficking. The SLP and RSLAF are urged to continue their efforts in keeping the nation safe and secure.
