Sierra Leonean music pioneer Jimmy Bangura, widely known as Jimmy B, has paid a heartfelt public tribute to popular musician Daddy Saj, praising him for his loyalty, gratitude and long-standing contribution to the country’s entertainment industry.
In a reflective message shared on Wednesday, Jimmy B recalled how he first met Daddy Saj in 1997 in Conakry, Guinea. At the time, Daddy Saj was a young refugee with “energy, talent and determination.” Jimmy B said the young musician’s passion inspired him to establish Paradise Records — a move that later shaped modern Sierra Leonean music after the civil war.
Daddy Saj became the first artist signed under Paradise Records. According to Jimmy B, the musician played a major role in the growth and success of the label, standing by him during difficult periods and helping “steer the ship to safety.”
Jimmy B described Daddy Saj as someone who never wavered, even in challenging times. He praised him for always speaking well of him, both privately and publicly — a character trait Jimmy B says is rare in a world where envy and ingratitude are common.
“It’s rare for him not to reach out at least once a month, consistently over the years,” Jimmy B said, highlighting Saj’s strong personal bond with him.
He added that Daddy Saj has never failed to acknowledge the influence Paradise Records and Jimmy B have had on his life and career.
In closing his tribute, Jimmy B wished Daddy Saj long life, good health and continued blessings.
