On Sunday, 16 November 2025, border security officers at the Jendema Border Crossing (between Sierra Leone and Liberia) made a major seizure.
The suspects — local residents named Alpha Jalloh and Mohamed Jalloh — were stopped during a routine checkpoint inspection. When security personnel attempted to search them, they tried to flee the scene. A combined security team gave chase and arrested them.
A detailed search uncovered 24 boxes plus 8 cards containing a total of 2,480 tablets of the drug Tapentadol (250 mg each). The substance is strictly regulated.
The two men and the seized tablets were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Mano River Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Border officials praised the swift coordination among the security agencies and said the arrest highlights the government’s strong commitment to stopping drug trafficking and protecting border integrity.
