MENA HILL, Bombali Judicial District, 29th November 2025: The Paramount Chief of Kamaranka Chiefdom, PC Kandeh Bangura Gbetgbo III, speaking on behalf of the Council of Paramount Chiefs in the North, has praised the initiative of Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda to decentralize the Court of Appeal by conducting sittings in the provinces for the first time since the establishment of the Judiciary of Sierra Leone.
According to PC Gbetgbo III, the Chief Justice’s decision to take the Court of Appeal to the people is not only historic and impactful, it is deserving of national celebration. He emphasized that the Honourable Chief Justice has demonstrated leadership that directly improves access to justice for citizens outside the capital.
“The Chief Justice deserves national celebration,” he reiterated. “Thank you, our great Chief Justice, for such a remarkable initiative to alleviate the suffering of our people. We, the Paramount Chiefs of the Northern Province, are grateful.”
Stakeholders at the event collectively reaffirmed their confidence in the Honourable Chief Justice, highlighting his notable reforms, including the establishment of the Sexual Offences Model Court and the extension of Court of Appeal sittings to the provinces.
