The Transitional Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Office of National Security (ONS), conducted a massive drug destruction exercise on December 27th, 2025, at TOCU’s Headquarters.
The operation saw the destruction of a vast array of prohibited substances, including three hundred and sixty five(365) pellets of cocaine and enquiry file CR/NO.424/2025 weighing 3.5g with an estimated Street value of Twenty Thousand United states dollars,five hundred and forty wraps of kush in the case and enquiry file CR/No.417/2025 weighing 800g with an estimated Street value of ten thousand new Leones, five hundred and thirty nine wraps of kush in the case and enquiry file CR/No.41/2025 weighing 120g with an estimated Street value of five thousand new Leones, seven and seven wraps of Kush in the case and enquiry file CR/NO.395/2025 weighing 140g with an estimated Street value of twelve thousand Leones, one thousand two hundred and eighty seven tablets of tramadol 225mg and two cups containing total of nine hundred and forty six tablets of 225mg tramadol in the case and enquiry file CR/NO.443/2025 weighing 4.5kg with an estimated Street value of thirty thousand new Leones, ninety one pellets of cocaine in the case enquiry file CR/NO.367/2025 weighing 1.1kg with an estimated Street value of four thousand United states dollars, fourteen bundles of Cannabis sativa in the case and enquiry file CR/NO.346/2025 weighing 120kg with an estimated Street value of fifty thousand new Leones.
During the event, Rev. Michael JK Lagga, the Head of TOCU, welcomed the attendees and emphasised the collective commitment to the fight against drugs, which continue to threaten public health, national security, and the future of Sierra Leone’s youth.
Sahr M.L. Moseray, the Director of Serious Organised Crime and Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, reiterated the unwavering commitment to combating crime, stating that the youth’s future is under serious threat due to drug addiction.
Ibrahim Kargbo, the Director of Operations at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, delivered a keynote address, highlighting the government’s efforts in the fight against drugs, including the establishment of a special security unit to augment the operations of the National Traffic Taskforce on Drug and Substance Abuse.
The drug destruction exercise, worth over $1 million (United States Dollars), underscores the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related crimes and its dedication to protecting the health and well-being of the Sierra Leonean people.
