Senior police officials from the Northeast Regional Headquarters of Makeni and authorities from the Bombali District Council visited the family of Anthony S. Kargbo, a fuel attendant shot dead in Worreh Village along the Makeni-Kamakwie Highway, Northeast, to offer condolences and calm community tensions. The incident occurred on January 12, 2026, and investigations are ongoing.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Victor Manfred Williams, Regional Police Commander for the North East, led the delegation and assured the family that police are committed to pursuing the case diligently. “We understand the pain the family is going through, and as law enforcement officers, we feel it too,” AIG Williams said. “However, this painful moment should not push anyone to take the law into their own hands. We are appealing to the family, sympathisers, and the wider community to work with the police by providing relevant and timely information that can help us identify and arrest those responsible.”
Bombali District Council Chairman Dr M.B. Sisay urged relatives and community members to remain patient and law-abiding, noting that the Sierra Leone Police have assumed full responsibility for the investigation. “This is a very difficult time, but we encourage the family to stay calm and allow the police to do their work,” Dr Sisay said.
The delegation included senior officers from various police divisions in the North East, among them divisional commanders, regional operations and crime officers, and officers overseeing special security units.
The killing has sparked concern among residents, with calls for improved security and swift justice. Police are appealing for public cooperation to identify and arrest the suspect.
