Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and Deputy Leader has engaged members and delegates of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) at the party office in Kenema to reaffirm his commitment to advancing the region’s interests and strengthening party unity.
Drawing on his long association with SLPP and his leadership under President Julius Maada Bio, Dr Juldeh Jalloh highlighted his early pledge to support upgrading the local polytechnic in Kenema to a full university status, calling it a key part of his contribution to education and development in the Eastern Province.
“We are a party of national unity,” he said, stressing that they as the SLPP’s future leaders must remain “united, motivated and development orientated” in cohesion as they build on President Bio’s legacy of national reconciliation and progress.
Addressing party supporters and about 320 party delegates from across the country, the deputy leader recalled some of the disputes and misunderstandings during the lower-level elections, which he noted were normal in the struggle for power.
“We all acknowledged the inevitable disagreements that come with political competition but urged a focus on peace and cohesion”.
“Power is not given like a piece of bread. Power is fought for and taken,” he said, noting that friction and misunderstanding are part of the process, “but after all of that peace must be restored.”
He described Kenema as “the centre of gravity of the party” and assured residents of its continued respect and support from the national leadership as the SLPP works toward broader unity and electoral success.
