An alleged murder incident has rocked Mamamka Village, Yoni Mamaila Chiefdom, Tonkolili District. Pa Roke Fornah, a ceremonial chief who is also said to be contesting for town chief, was arrested and detained at Mile 91 Police Station after Amadu Mambu Kamara died during a mediation process on Thursday, 22 January 2026.
According to our preliminary investigation, the dispute began when female genital”soweis”, initiators, known in our local language as “soweis,” erected a sacred hut near Kamara’s residence, sparking tensions between Sampa Memneh Kargbo, the Head of the Soweis, and Alpha Kanu, Principal of Ernest Bai Koroma Secondary School, Mamamka Village.
The matter was referred to Pa Roke Fornah for mediation. Kamara arrived at the scene to help resolve the dispute, and Fornah allegedly pointed his finger at him, after which Kamara collapsed and died. The cause of death is undetermined.
The body has been released to the family for burial, per community arrangements. The Sierra Leone Police are investigating, led by Senior Inspector Sahr Augustine Mafinda, Crime Officer at Mile 91 Police Division. Residents are advised to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
