Sierra Leone is set to take the regional stage, as the country’s under-17 wrestling team has departed for Guinea-Bissau to participate in the 2026 West African Wrestling Championships.
The key regional tournament, which will be held from April 11-12, 2026, will also serve as a qualification event for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics. Sierra Leone will be represented by three promising young athletes competing in both freestyle and beach wrestling categories.
The trio includes Alimamy Kamara (60kg Men’s Freestyle and 60kg Men’s Beach Wrestling), Nenneh Isata Shaw (61kg Women’s Freestyle and 65kg Women’s Beach Wrestling), and Fatmata Binta Bah (65kg Women’s Freestyle and 65kg Women’s Beach Wrestling).
Prior to the main competition, the team will participate in a five-day training camp from April 6-10, 2026, to fine-tune their preparations and put the finishing touches on their performances.
