The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, is set to host another edition of the Civic Day Series in Lungi on Tuesday, 19th May 2026.

The townhall meeting, themed “Government at your doorstep,” is aimed at creating an open platform for dialogue between government officials and citizens on key national issues affecting communities across the country. The initiative forms part of government’s broader efforts to strengthen civic participation, transparency, and public engagement.

The Lungi Civic Townhall will focus on six major national priority areas, including redistricting, the upcoming 2026 Population and Housing Census, the 300 Days of Activism campaign, updates on the government’s Big Five development agenda, constitutional review discussions, and national revenue and tax awareness.

Organizers say the discussions will help citizens better understand ongoing government policies and reforms while also providing an opportunity for residents to raise concerns, ask questions, and contribute ideas on matters affecting national development.

On redistricting, officials are expected to explain proposed changes to electoral boundaries and their implications for representation and governance. Discussions on the 2026 Census will focus on the importance of accurate population data for planning and development, while the constitutional review session will update citizens on key issues currently under consideration.

The townhall will also address the importance of taxation and national revenue generation, highlighting how taxes contribute to the provision of public services and national development initiatives.

Citizens unable to attend physically will still have the opportunity to participate by submitting questions in advance through the designated online platform, bit.ly/3QNyPM3. Members of the public can also send free SMS messages through the short code 818 across all mobile networks.

To ensure wider national participation, the entire event will be streamed live on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education.

The Civic Day Series has become an important government outreach platform designed to bring governance closer to citizens and encourage inclusive national dialogue. The initiative is guided by the national civic message #SaloneBigPasWiAll – “We Rise to Lift Salone Above All Else” – which emphasizes collective responsibility in nation-building and development.

Residents of Lungi, civil society organizations, youth groups, traditional leaders, and members of the public from surrounding communities are being encouraged to attend and actively participate in the discussions.
