The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday, 15th May 2026, held its first inception meeting with members of the newly established Integrity School Club of Bishop JohnsonMemorial School at the school compound on Fourah Bay Road in Freetown.

The engagement brought together pupils, teacher coordinators of the school, and officials from the ACC to discuss the roles and responsibilities of Integrity School Club members in promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical values among young people.

Addressing the gathering, Head of the ACC Public Education Unit Christiana F. Jusu stated that corruption remains a major challenge affecting all sectors of society, particularly the future of young people. She stressed that combating corruption requires a collective approach and meaningful youth involvement, hence the importance of establishing Integrity Clubs in schools.

She further encouraged the pupils to become role models of integrity both in school and within their communities, emphasizing that their actions should reflect honesty, discipline, and strong moral values.

Madam Jusu also urged club members to undertake educational activities such as debates, quizzes, and awareness campaigns to promote ethical conduct and strengthen unity among pupils. Additionally, she encouraged them to report unethical behavior through the appropriate channels while assuring them of the Commission’s continued support through training and capacity-building initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the club.

Meanwhile, Public Education Officer Yangie D. Sesay provided an overview of the work of the ACC, highlighting the Commission’s ongoing efforts to prevent and combat corruption through its various departments and programmes.

She encouraged the pupils to follow the ACC’s social media platforms to gain a deeper understanding of the institution’s mandate and operations. She added that the engagement was important in ensuring that Integrity Clubs effectively implement initiatives that contribute to the broader anti-corruption efforts of the Commission.

Also speaking at the meeting, Public Education Officer Shaika Kamara outlined the Commission’s reporting channels, including 8515, 077985985, and 077986986, while cautioning pupils against making false or malicious reports.

In response, Teacher Coordinators Aiah Nglandah and Alpha I. Kanu, together with members of the Integrity School Club, commended the ACC for its continued efforts in promoting integrity and combating corruption in Sierra Leone. They also pledged their commitment to organizing impactful programmes and activities aimed at increasing anti-corruption awareness among pupils of the school.
