Central University in Sierra Leone has hosted a delegation from several European universities to strengthen academic cooperation and support the implementation of a Master’s programme in Waste Management and Circular Economy.
The meeting took place on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, at the university’s campus at 1 Silicone Hills, Mile 91. Discussions focused on the proposed programme and how academic partnerships could help address environmental challenges.
Welcoming the delegation, Vice Chancellor and Principal Professor Bob Karankay Conteh said the visit supported the university’s efforts to expand its courses and contribute to national development.
He noted that although Central University is relatively new, it has received accreditation from the Tertiary Education Commission and continues to work towards providing quality higher education.
Professor Conteh encouraged the visitors to engage with staff and students to learn more about the institution. He also highlighted its facilities and commitment to providing a clean and supportive learning environment.
The university’s Chancellor, Dr. Muckson Sesay, welcomed the partnership, saying the institution was established to meet the growing demand for higher education and equip Sierra Leoneans with relevant skills.
He explained that his experiences studying abroad helped shape his commitment to investing in education and technology in Sierra Leone.
Dr. Sesay said the Waste Management and Circular Economy project reflected the university’s vision of using education and innovation to respond to national needs. He expressed hope that the partnership would lead to further academic and institutional cooperation.
The delegation later toured the campus and inspected its academic and other facilities.
