The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, stood down proceedings pending a ruling on two applications before the court.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay has asked the court to consolidate three pending cases so they can be heard together.
The second application was filed by Basita Michael, who is seeking admission as an amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” to assist the court in considering the matter. Alternatively, she has requested to join the proceedings as an interested party.
Chief Justice Komba Kamanda is presiding over the proceedings alongside Justices M.F. Deen Tarawally, A.M. Bangurah, F.B. Alhadi and J.E.L. King.
The Judiciary’s update did not provide details of the three cases or state when the ruling would be delivered.
