The Athlete Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the Women and Sport Commission, will be hosting a two-day “Women in Sports Empowerment Program and Leadership Training” event on December 20-21, 2024, at the OlympAfrica Center in Goderich, Freetown.
Announced by the Chairman of the Athlete Commission, Mohamed Kamara, the program is sponsored by the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) 365 initiative. The event aims to empower and inspire female athletes to become leaders within the sporting community.
The program focuses on increasing female participation in sports and leadership roles by addressing the barriers to entry and creating a supportive environment for women athletes. Organizers hope the training will help develop the next generation of female sports leaders in Sierra Leone.
“This is an important initiative that will provide valuable opportunities for our female athletes to grow as leaders and advocates for women’s sports,” said Kamara. “We are thrilled to be hosting this event and look forward to the positive impact it will have on the sporting landscape in Sierra Leone.”
The Women in Sports Empowerment Program and Leadership Training is open to all female athletes, coaches, and sports administrators in Sierra Leone. Interested participants are encouraged to register for the event in the coming months.
