In a bid to promote employees’ rights and to further protect the interests of the employers through on-the-spot workplace visits, the Honourable Minister, Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has hit the ground running in January 2025.
The minister and his team of senior labor officials visited the Sierra Leone Bottling Company, which now partners with GVR Bottlers Company, established in 2022 as a beverage manufacturing company mainly to produce quality non-alcoholic drinks.
In his engagement with management, the Honourable Minister reassured management of the government’s commitment to promote workers rights and to support businesses and industries by complimenting H. E. President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of creating 500,000 jobs.
He further drew the attention of management to the newly enacted labor laws: the Employment Act 2023, the Work Permit Act, the Industrial Relations and Trade Union Act, among others.
Minister Swaray emphasized the importance of implementing all health and safety provisions in the workplace.
The Business Development Manager, Mr. Hennrey Du Plessis, took the minister and his team through the operations of the company and assured them that, as a company, they will abide by the employment laws of the country.
The visit was climaxed with a tour of the refurbished facility.
