President Babadi Kamara of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has launched the Wusum Stadium fence project in Makeni, a critical step in his efforts to enhance football infrastructure across the country.
Kamara stressed the importance of integrity and fulfilling commitments, noting that his promise to support football development was made on moral grounds and must be honored.
The SLFA President emphasized that the association is focused on football development rather than personal interests.
Kamara has committed funds towards improving the stadium’s facilities, including sanitation works in the dressing rooms.
The intervention includes plans to dig a borehole, connect it to toilet facilities, change tiles, and upgrade the dressing rooms.
Of the estimated $75,000 required, $40,000 has already been committed to the project, alongside an additional $20,000 for the borehole and toilet.
Describing Wusum Stadium as a community infrastructure, Kamara called on residents to take ownership of the project by monitoring and safeguarding it.
He added that every district in Sierra Leone will benefit from similar development projects, with plans to further upgrade Wusum Stadium and other fields nationwide by 2027 through FIFA funding.
Kamara emphasized that football knows no boundaries and should unite the country beyond politics, race, or region, underscoring the SLFA’s commitment to the holistic development of the sport in Sierra Leone.
