The Sierra Leone Canoe Federation has announced the launch of its first-ever National Canoe Championship, set to take place from April 27 to 30, 2026, at the Sea Coach Express in Aberdeen.
The championship will feature 16 coastal communities, including Tombo, Bureh, Mama Beach, Sucess, Lumley, Aberdeen, and Tokeh, competing in various canoe sprint events such as single, two-man, five-man, and 10-man Dragon sprints.
“We are excited to host this historic event and are eager to popularise the sport of canoeing in Sierra Leone,” said Federation President Abdul Karim Koroma.
Secretary-General Donald Kalokoh expressed his enthusiasm for the participation of these communities, while Sahr Morris Junior of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone praised the initiative and pledged their support.
