The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, has engaged key stakeholders in Moyamba District during a high-level working lunch held on Thursday, 16th April 2026.

The meeting brought together Paramount Chiefs, Members of Parliament, district and chiefdom authorities, employers, employees, pensioners, and members of the general public.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Daboh said the establishment of the Moyamba District Office reflects NASSIT’s commitment to decentralising services and making social security more accessible to citizens. He noted that the office will reduce the long travel burden previously faced by pensioners and contributors seeking services, adding that some had even lost their lives while travelling.

The Director General stressed the importance of full compliance with the NASSIT Act No. 5 of 2001. He reminded stakeholders that social security is both a legal right for workers and an obligation for employers in Sierra Leone.

He encouraged local authorities to help enforce compliance and urged employers to meet their responsibilities to the Trust. Mr. Daboh also called for stronger inclusion of the informal sector, including traders, farmers, and artisans, saying social protection must reach all working people to ensure security in retirement.

He praised sons and daughters of Moyamba for their support, particularly Honourable Veronica Kadie Sesay, whom he credited for her role in securing the land for the new district office. He described the project as a strong example of community-driven development.

The Paramount Chief of Kaiyamba Chiefdom welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation to NASSIT for bringing services closer to the people. He described the development as a new era for the district and pledged continued support for the institution’s work.

Honourable Veronica Kadie Sesay, in her vote of thanks, commended the Director General’s leadership and thanked all stakeholders for their commitment to the district’s progress, describing the new office as a symbol of hope for workers in Moyamba.

The engagement ended with discussions on strengthening NASSIT’s national presence and shared responsibility in protecting the welfare of the workforce.
