The 2018 general elections flag bearer of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, who was a person of interest by the Commission of Inquiry established by the constitutional instrument No.64 of 2018 in the court or justice Biobelle Georgewill, appeared at the appeal court on Wednesday 7th December 2023, to appeal ruling made against him that he was involved in the secret sale of 30% shares in Sierra Rutile Limited.
Making his submission at the Appeal court No. 12 on Siaka Stevens street in Freetown, of justice Ivan Sesay, the lead Counsel of the appellant, lawyer Ady Macaulay, said there are a plethora of evidence of testimony that the appellant, Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara has no hand in the said matter. Used as one of his defenses, lawyer Ady Macaulay said the state in making such claim against the appellant failed to show any evidence that the appellant sold any share to Sierra Rutile Limited. This he said as per law is a case of no moment.
Lawyer Ady Macaulay further stated that the appellant cannot sell something that does not exist. Representing the state is the lead Counsel Robert Kowa and team.
Justice Ivan Sesay adjourned the matter to 11 January 2023.
