In a move to ensure a seamless and peaceful conclusion to the community football competition, the Approved School Sports Promoters Association (ASSPA) held a meeting with the two finalists, Grassfield Community FC and Kuntorlor Community FC.
The grand finale, scheduled for October 13th, 2024, is set to be a thrilling event, according to ASSA Chairman Abubakarr Kamara. The fans and the media have played a crucial role in marketing this competition, and we are excited to witness the final showdown, he stated.
While the ASSPA did not choose the referees to officiate the matches, they have ensured their services are secured for the grand final. Additionally, the organization has provided 50 bags of cement to construct seating accommodations for the fans, a testament to their commitment to providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all in attendance.
Superintendent Derosime Peller of the Kissy Police Division emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and sanity throughout the final. Stakeholders and managers, please go home and pass peace messages to your fans. We all have a role to play in ensuring a beautiful and peaceful football final, he urged.
The Assistant Secretary-General of Kuntorlor Community FC, Mohamed Pedro Conteh, assured the public that their team will work to keep the peace before, during, and after the final, for the betterment of the game.
Grassfield Community FC CEO Rev. Dr. Samuel Deffie expressed his team’s eagerness to face the challenge, stating, We are looking forward to the police as they are coming as the away team. Whichever team wins, let’s do it in an amicable way. This is our first final, and we are the only community that scored 28 goals before going to the final.
With the stage set and the teams ready, the Approved School Sports Promoters Association is poised to deliver an unforgettable community football final, showcasing the spirit of sportsmanship and bringing the two communities together in a celebration of the beautiful game.
