In a move to revive and sustain cricket in the Bo District, Fatmata Fatima Banya, the Head of Physical Education for the Southern Region, has committed to promoting the sport. During the launch of the Bo Cricket Club at CKC School, Banya emphasized the need for a regional cricket club to keep the sport alive.
The Acting General Manager of Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL), Chrispin Ekundayo George, highlighted the importance of gathering data on Physical Education (PE) teachers to train and increase school participation. CSL’s Cricket Development Officer, Edward Marah, introduced PE teachers to the ICC data app and distributed forms to gather information on 1,000 pupils.
The Bo School cricket facility, however, is in poor condition, with damaged fields and missing equipment. To address this issue, Manager George appointed Madam Banya as the Bo District Cricket Development Officer to oversee and preserve cricket activities in the area.
The launch of the Bo Cricket Club is a significant step towards reviving the sport in the region, and with the support of the regional PE head and the CSL team, the future of cricket in Bo District looks promising.
