The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has officially confirmed Glasgow as the host city for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, marking the return of the prestigious multi-sport event to Scotland 12 years after the successful 2014 edition.
The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, showcasing a 10-sport program concentrated across four venues within an eight-mile corridor in Glasgow. This compact setup promises an action-packed broadcast schedule and an accessible, festival-like experience for spectators.
Approximately 3,000 of the best athletes from up to 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, representing over 2.5 billion people, will compete in the Games. Parasport will once again be fully integrated as a key priority, with six Parasports included in the sport program.
The program will feature a diverse range of disciplines, including Athletics and Para Athletics (Track & Field), Swimming and Para Swimming, Artistic Gymnastics, Track Cycling and Para Track Cycling, Netball, Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting, Boxing, Judo, Bowls and Para Bowls, as well as 3×3 Basketball and 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball.
Glasgow has a rich history of hosting successful Commonwealth Games, and we are thrilled to see the city take center stage once again in 2026, said CGF President Dame Louise Martin. This compact and accessible event plan will provide an exceptional experience for athletes, spectators, and global audiences alike.
