Magistrate Mark Ngegba, the newly appointed chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board for the 2024/25 season, has announced a strategic initiative to bolster the financial stability of Premier League clubs.
During a press conference held at the SLFA Secretariat, Magistrate Ngegba revealed that the board will be distributing a total of one hundred million Leones (Le100,000,000) in old notes to all Premier League clubs.
This move is expected to provide a much-needed financial boost to the teams as they prepare for the upcoming Leone Rock Premier League season, which is set to commence on December 20, 2024.
The opening week will feature nine matches, kicking off with a highly anticipated clash between Mighty Blackpool and Diamond Stars. Other fixtures include Wilberforce Strikers vs. newcomers Abacha City, Port Authority vs. Old Edwardians, Bhantal FC vs. Kamboi Eagles, and Freetown City FC vs. defending champions BO Rangers.
Magistrate Ngegba expressed his confidence in the league’s ability to grow and thrive under the board’s leadership, stating, “This financial allocation is just the beginning of our efforts to ensure the Premier League clubs have the resources they need to succeed. We are committed to working closely with the teams to support their development and enhance the overall competitiveness of the league.”
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from the football community, who are eager to witness the unfolding of the 2024/25 Leone Rock Premier League season.
