Widows, stakeholders, and development partners gathered at the New Brookfields Hotel for the 2025 JNJF Widows’ Fundraising Luncheon. The event was held to support women facing challenges after the loss of their husbands.
JNJF Program Manager, John Kingsley Yambasu, said the Foundation’s mission is to restore dignity and hope to widows. He explained that funds raised will go into women’s health, mental-health awareness, and empowerment projects across Sierra Leone.

Speakers shared personal stories and messages of hope. Michaela Macauley from Rokel Commercial Bank encouraged widows not to feel ashamed or alone. She praised the Foundation for giving widows a safe space and highlighted the importance of financial support systems.
Dr. Edward Sandy from the National Investment Board urged women not to let grief define their future. He encouraged them to stay strong for their families.
General Manager of Securiport, Mr. Abraham Mansaray, said he is proud to support a Foundation that changes lives and promised continued partnership.
The event ended with a call for more community support to help widows rebuild their lives. Guests left with a renewed commitment to stand with widows and promote change in their communities.
