A group of Sierra Leonean law enforcement officers have completed an international intelligence training programme aimed at strengthening the country’s national security and crime-fighting capacity.
The officers recently graduated from a specialised intelligence course held in Botswana, where participants received advanced training in security operations, intelligence gathering and modern investigative techniques. The programme is part of ongoing efforts to improve the skills of Sierra Leone’s security personnel and enhance cooperation with international partners.
Officials said the training focused on building professional capacity in areas such as information analysis, counter-crime strategies and coordination between security institutions. The initiative is expected to help officers respond more effectively to emerging threats and improve public safety across the country.
Authorities noted that the participation of Sierra Leonean officers in the programme reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the security sector through professional training and global partnerships. The knowledge gained during the course is expected to be shared with other officers to improve overall performance within the force.
Security experts say such training opportunities are important as countries face new challenges including organised crime, cyber threats and cross-border security risks. They believe that continued international cooperation will play a key role in helping Sierra Leone modernise its law enforcement institutions.
The graduating officers are expected to return home and apply the skills learned to support national security operations and improve intelligence-led policing in Sierra Leone.
