Cancellation of 2025 WASSCE Results…KOSA Takes WAEC to Court

By Alieu Amara Suwu

The Kenema Old Students Association (KOSA) and the Government Secondary School in Kenema have taken legal action against WAEC Sierra Leone. This comes after WAEC cancelled the 2025 WASSCE result of a student, Unpha Lamin Koroma, without giving a clear reason.

Earlier, WAEC had withheld over 50 results, including Unpha’s, saying they were investigating possible exam cheating. After reviewing the cases, WAEC later released all the results—including Unpha’s—with no proof of malpractice.

But weeks later, WAEC suddenly cancelled Unpha’s result without explaining why. This was shocking because Unpha was the top student in the 2025 WASSCE, scoring six A1s, two B2s, and one B3.

KOSA and the school believe WAEC’s decision is unfair and illegal since they never provided any evidence of wrongdoing.

The case has now been taken to court. KOSA trusts Sierra Leone’s legal system to ensure justice is served.

A Writ of Summons (legal document) has been filed, and updates will be shared as the case moves forward.
