The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially appointed Didier Gomes Da Rosa as the new head coach of the Leone Stars, marking the first time since 2011 that a Frenchman will lead the national team. Coach Da Rosa has signed a two-year contract to steer the national squad forward.
SLFA President Babadi Kamara warmly welcomed Coach Didier to Sierra Leone during the appointment ceremony. The selection process was highly competitive, with 79 applications received — including 3 local and 73 foreign coaches. Through careful evaluation by the SLFA Technical Committee and Technical Department, five candidates were shortlisted before ultimately appointing Coach Gomes Da Rosa.
NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for the Leone Stars. He pledged ongoing collaboration between the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the SLFA.
Coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa expressed gratitude to the SLFA and the Government of Sierra Leone. He praised the nation’s young and talented players, affirming his commitment to harnessing their potential for a brighter future in Sierra Leonean football.
