The Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLeDU) has officially released the nominee list for the 2026 National Music Awards (NMA), and rising star Boii has emerged as a top contender with two high-profile nominations.
The National Music Awards, established in 2022 by SLeDU, serve as an annual platform to honor outstanding achievements in the Sierra Leonean entertainment industry, spanning categories such as artistry, songwriting, production, and live performance. The 2026 edition aims to recognize the “outstanding hard work, consistency, and contribution” of entertainers throughout the 2025 calendar year.
Boii’s impact on the music scene over the past year has been formally recognized by the Awards Committee, earning her a place on the shortlist for:
- Artist of the Year (Female)
- Album/EP of the Year (for her project, Money or Honey)
In a notification letter issued by the Awards Secretariat, SLeDU emphasized that these nominations reflect Boii’s “dedication to the growth of entertainment in Sierra Leone”.
Under the 2026 award guidelines, SLeDU has confirmed that winners in each category will be determined by 100% public voting. This shift places the final outcome directly in the hands of the fans and the general public.
Nominees have until February 24, 2026, to officially communicate their acceptance of the nominations to the Awards Secretariat. Following this confirmation period, the final list of nominees will be published to the public.
