The Moyamba Magistrate Court has denied bail to all twelve accused persons standing trial over the death of Chief Alhaji Lamin Moseray at a sand mining site in Taiama Town.
The accused, including John Kuku and eleven others, made their second appearance before Magistrate Peter Gorgra on Tuesday in connection with the fatal incident that occurred on 8 January 2026 in Kori Chiefdom.
Bail Denied Over Gravity of Charges
Presiding over the matter, Magistrate Gorgra ruled that bail would not be granted at this stage due to the seriousness of the charges. The case was adjourned to 28 April 2026 for further hearing.
Sergeant J.F. Coker is prosecuting the matter. The defence team comprises J.M.S. Koroma Esq., H.M. Karimu, F. Gbao, and S.K. Ansumana.
Tense Courtroom as Families Attend
The courtroom was packed with sympathisers from both the bereaved family of the late Chief Alhaji Lamin Moseray, formerly of Bai Largoh, and supporters of the accused. The large turnout underscores the heightened public interest in the case across Moyamba District.
Proceedings will resume next Monday as the court continues to hear evidence surrounding the 8 January incident.
