Philadelphia, USA, December 15, 2024: Dr. Suphian Kalokoh , the Chairman of APC-USA, delivered a powerful message in Philadelphia on December 14, 2024, during the inauguration of the APC-USA Pennsylvania Chapter Executive. Addressing members of the All-People’s Congress (APC) party, Dr. Kalokoh emphasized that the APC cannot achieve electoral success without unity, resilience, and dedication from its members and supporters across Sierra Leone.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Kalokoh acknowledged the internal challenges currently facing the APC. He highlighted how bitterness, resentment, and hostility among members have created a negative and divisive atmosphere, threatening the party’s success. He warned that without unity and a strong fight for victory, Sierra Leoneans will continue to suffer under ineffective leadership.
When he was addressing the internal divisions in the party, Dr. Kalokoh pointed to personal ambitions and infighting as significant obstacles to the APC’s progress. He urged members to set aside their individual goals and prioritize the collective interest of the party and the nation. “We must surrender our personal ambitions to the party and to the country,” he stated, emphasizing that collective success will ultimately lead to individual victories.
The Chairman also criticized the role of social media in exacerbating divisions within the party, noting that confrontational posts and personal attacks among party members have contributed to dysfunction. He called for members to pledge mutual respect and work towards unity, reminding them of their shared mission to bring positive change to Sierra Leone.
Comparing national challenges, Dr. Kalokoh also touched on broader national issues, criticizing the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) for prioritizing personal wealth and division over national development. He warned that these challenges are not unique to the APC, as other political parties also face similar issues of internal conflict. However, he expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to rise above these challenges and lead the country toward progress.
Without naming names, Dr. Kalokoh urged APC leaders, including the former flagbearer and running mate, to reflect on their responsibilities and work to unify the party. Drawing on historical lessons, he cited the collective fight during World War II as an example of resilience and teamwork that led to victory.
“We must come together as one,” he said. “It is better to talk more about two-one-another than one-another, to achieve our goals.” This philosophy, he argued, is crucial for building consensus and advancing the party’s mission.
Dr. Kalokoh expressed optimism that the APC could defeat the SLPP in the next elections, emphasizing that the SLPP government has failed to deliver on its promises. He encouraged the APC to adopt bold, innovative strategies to rebuild the party’s strength and reconnect with the people of Sierra Leone.
The APC needs to build collective power and take a vibrant approach to reclaim governance so that the people of Sierra Leone can regain the stability and prosperity they have lost over the past seven years, he said.
In addition to delivering the keynote address, Dr. Kalokoh officiated the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected APC-USA Pennsylvania Chapter Executive, led by President Abu Sesay. He congratulated the new leadership and encouraged them to lead with integrity and dedication, reminding them that their efforts contribute to the party’s broader mission.
Chairman, Dr. Kalokoh’s message was a rallying call for the APC to overcome its internal challenges and focus on its shared goal of restoring hope and development in Sierra Leone. His speech left attendees with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to work collectively for the party’s success.
